Nutritional Assessment Tools

4 Key Nutritional Assessment Tools

Clinical Nutritionist, Geri Zatcoff incorporates a variety of tools in her nutritional counseling arsenal. These tools offer insight into the vast and complicated metabolic processes of the body. Using the latest technology and current research, testing provides information from which to create food plans, supplement and exercise protocols. These tools include but are not limited to the following:

Bio-Electrical Impedance Scale

When you stand on this scale with bare feet, it sends an electric current up and through your body. It measures body fat, lean mass and total body water. These measurements are important because the amount of lean mass on ones’ body has a direct effect on many metabolic processes including the body’s ability to metabolize sugar. This measurement is also extremely important when losing or gaining weight.

Quantitative Fluid Analysis

Quantitative Fluid Analysis (QFA) testing is a computerized assessment of the biochemical properties of a client’s first morning urine and saliva for pH, oxidation-reduction potential and resistivity. These measurements provide an overview of the biochemical makeup of your body, organ function and the body’s ability to utilize enzymes, amino acids and minerals. This test provides information that allows a supplement protocol to be targeted to the specific biochemical needs of the individual saving both time and money.

Vitamin D Test (25 Hydroxy Vitamin D)

Current research suggests that almost everyone can benefit from this simple blood test, particularly those living in the Northeast. Among other things, Vitamin D has been shown to be a vital nutrient in the formation and maintenance of bone. It is critical for immune function and cancer prevention. Ask your primary physician or Dr. Wolpo.

Hair Analysis

Hair analysis has been used for many years to assess mineral status. It is an invaluable tool used to assess heavy metal toxicity. If the QFA suggests this problem, it can be confirmed by analyzing the hair. Copywrite Zatcoff Wellness 2009
